Parangtritis Beach, Indonesia - A Beach Without Swimmers

In the Bantul Regency, twenty-eight kilometers south of Yogyakarta, lies the peaceful idyllic village of Parangtritis. Rugged limestone cliffs overlook huge waves pounding the shoreline; the wide expanse of sand dunes merging into the black sandy beach.

Don't bother to bring your bathing suit however, as the largely Muslim visitors find fun on the beach fully clothed -- riding horse-drawn carts, horses and ATV's, playing along the shoreline and eating food from numerous vendors.
